Bicycles with skis for wheels have been around forever. One online reviewer summarizes their appeal as, “Hey, that looks like a great way to smash my balls. And way less fun than skiing.” But K2 and other manufacturers are making shock-equipped, high-tech snowbikes that are surprisingly safe and entertaining. Some versions are actually being used to help people with injuries get out on the slopes. And Darin Schultz (4dsnowbike.com) has invented a conversion kit for your average mountain bike, so you can take it up-slope as well as down, including things like Highland Bowl, which, with special permission, he rode in 2008. Schultz stayed upright, reached estimated speeds of 50 mph and, he insists, remains viable as a sperm donor.
